CURRENT CONSTRUCTION PROJECTS
The Skyview Tank, which holds 6 million gallons of drinking water, has been out of service since 2021 due to extensive maintenance needs that ultimately require full replacement. Since the tank went offline, the Water Department has continued to provide reliable service by temporarily adjusting how the water system operates to make up for the lost storage. However, long term, this tank is essential to help reduce water main breaks and to support fire protection in Vallejo. Reliable water service will continue throughout construction.
Beginning April 16, 2026, the City began work to replace this critical facility. The project is expected to take about two years to complete.
The City of Vallejo is updating all water meters in its service area. This upgrade reflects the City’s commitment to maintaining and optimizing your drinking water system. The majority of Vallejo’s 38,000 water meters are beyond their useful life of 20 years and need to be replaced. The new meters will use advanced metering infrastructure (AMI). AMI is the well-established standard for water metering across the water industry.
