About the Fire Department
The Vallejo Fire Department provides comprehensive emergency and fire prevention services to the community of Vallejo. Our personnel respond to approximately 20,000 emergency calls each year, providing emergency medical services, fire suppression, rescue, hazardous materials response, wildland fire response, and other emergency services.
The Department operates seven fire stations with eight companies and provides 24-hour emergency response throughout the City. Vallejo Fire Department personnel also provide mutual aid to neighboring communities and throughout California when requested.
Administration
Responsible for overall Department management, budget, personnel, operations, policy, and coordination of Department programs. Administration also oversees the City's Emergency Operations Center.
First Responder Billing
Fire Suppression
Provides 24-hour emergency response to fires, medical emergencies, rescues, hazardous materials incidents, wildland fires, natural disasters, and other emergencies. The Fire Suppression Division consists of:

6 engines
1 quint
1 tiller truck
87 approved positions (6 Limited Term)
The staff are spread across three different shifts to ensure coverage to citizens 24 hours a day, 7 days a week. Each shift is led by a Battalion Chief.
Fire Prevention
Provides fire and life safety inspections, plan review, permitting, fire investigations, weed abatement, public education, and other prevention services. Click here for information about weed abatement.
Training
Provides recruit and in-service training and maintains required fire service and EMS certifications and professional development.
