Vallejo Fire Department Minimum Hiring Qualifications

  • 18 years of age.
  • Current California Driver's License.
  • Current California EMT-Paramedic License, including ACLS, PALS or PEPP, PHTLS or BTLS/ITLS certifications.
  • Obtain a passing score on the Fire Candidate Testing Center written exam (fctconline.org) *not required for lateral applicants.
  • Current Candidate Physical Ability Test (CPAT) card *not required for lateral applicants.
 

Desired Qualifications

  • Firefighting and paramedic experience (paid or volunteer).
  • Firefighter Academy or FF1 certificate.
  • Bilingual.
  • Bachelor’s or Master’s Degree.
 

The Vallejo Fire Department Hiring Process Includes

  • Oral board interview.
  • VFD proctored paramedic assessment center.
  • Chief's Interview.
  • Background check.
  • Physical medical examination.
 
Prior To Hire
Selected candidate(s) will be required to: 
  • Provide personal references 
  • Submit to and successfully pass a pre-employment background check, including fingerprint check. 
  • Successfully complete a job-related pre-placement medical exam. 
  • Provide proof of legal right to work in the United States. 
  • Take a loyalty Oath of Office.
