The Planning Division's primary functions are Current Planning and Long-Range Planning.

Current Planning includes:

  • Implementation of the Zoning Ordinance, which provides the procedures, standards, and regulations for land use decisions.

  • Implementing the General Plan, the City's vision for its future.
  • Reviewing development proposals using the NEW Zoning Ordinance and as well as other State regulations including the California Environmental Quality Act (CEQA).
  • Providing land use information to all stakeholders in the Vallejo community.

Long-Range Planning includes:

Other Functions of the Division are:

  • Supporting the Planning Commission, a seven-member group appointed by the City Council to make decisions or recommendations on land use issues.
  • Supporting the Architectural Heritage and Landmarks Commission, a seven-member group appointed by the City Council to guide the preservation of the Architectural Heritage District and the St. Vincent's Hill Historic District.
  • Supporting the Design Review Board, a seven-member group appointed by the City Council to promote orderly, harmonious and attractive development within the downtown and waterfront areas.

Vallejo General Plan Element Updates

CALIFORNIA ENVIRONMENTAL QUALITY ACT (CEQA) DOCUMENTS

NOTICE OF PREPARATION AND NOTICE OF PUBLIC SCOPING MEETING
 
The City of Vallejo (City) is preparing an Environmental Impact Report (Draft EIR) for the proposed Sonoma Gateway Project (project). The City as lead agency has determined that the project will require the preparation of an Environmental Impact Report (EIR) in compliance with the California Environmental Quality Act (California Public Resources Code, Section 21000 et seq) (CEQA) and Title 14 of the California Code of Regulations (CEQA Guidelines). The City has prepared this Notice of Preparation (NOP) in accordance with CEQA Guidelines Section 15082.
 
Public Scoping Meeting: The City will hold a public scoping meeting to present information regarding the project and the CEQA process, and to receive public comments and suggestions regarding the scope and content of the Draft EIR. The date, time, and location of the Public Scoping Meeting are provided below.

All interested parties are welcome to attend and present environmental information or concerns. Verbal and written comments regarding the scope of the Draft EIR will be accepted at the meeting.

City Hall and the Central Permit Center are now open from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. Mondays through Thursdays. Please note that the Planning staff will not be available from 12-1.
