Conditions of Use

By visiting the City of Vallejo website, users agree that they will not use the website for any unlawful activity, or use it in any way that would violate the terms and conditions of use. This website is governed and construed by the laws of the State of California. Any use of the website shall comply with all City,State and Federal laws and regulations. Unauthorized attempts to upload information or change information on this website are strictly prohibited and may be punishable under state law and federal statutes including the Computer Fraud and Abuse Act of 1986 and the National Information Infrastructure Protection Act. We monitor network traffic to identify unauthorized attempts to upload or change information or to otherwise cause damage to the City's website.Anyone using this website expressly consents to such monitoring.

Changes are made periodically to many City documents, including the Municipal Code,City Charter, City regulations, guidelines, and schedules, and these changes may or may not be reflected in the materials or information present on this website. External Linking Policy

The City of Vallejo's website contains links to local, state and federal government agencies and to other, non-government websites. In establishing and maintaining its official web site, the City does not intend to create any forum or other means for public discourse. Rather, the sole and limited purpose of the permitted external links is to provide information about the City for residents, businesses and visitors. The City does not endorse, promote or provide preferential treatment to any third party websites or any associated organizations or persons with those web sites. The City does not control third party websites, and therefore does not warrant that third party websites are accurate, reliable or that they have operational links. The user acknowledges and agrees that the City of Vallejo is not liable in any way for the content, accuracy, reliability, viewpoints, policies, or products provided by these external resources.
 
It is the City's policy to limit the use of external links and provide links to the following entities and organizations: a) other governmental agencies; b)entities with which the City has an existing formal, contractual relationship;c) commercial and non-profit entities that provide information or services that may provide services in website categories of interest to website users or enhances the usability of the City's website for visitors. The City reserves the right, at any time and without notice, to: a) deny a link that does not meet the criteria set forth in this policy; b) deny or discontinue an external link at any time if the website provides or promotes false, slanderous, illegal,infringing or incorrect information; c) remove any external link if the nature of the organization to which the link relates no longer complies with the City's external link policy; d) revise this policy without prior notice when the City considers such revision to be in its best interests.  The City further reserves the right to limit the number of links, determine which links may be included and to remove any link at any time from the City's website.

Privacy Policy

This privacy policy explains the City's practices for collecting personal identifying information from the City's website.  For the purpose of this privacy policy,the City will use the term "identity information" to refer to your information which identifies you individually, including your name, phone number, e-mail address, or physical address.

The City will not release identity information without either: (1) the consent of the person providing the information, or (2) a court order. However, it is important to understand that the City has obligations to provide public access to "public records" under the California Public Records Act (California Government Code sections 6250, et seq.). Thus, while the City will make every effort to protect the privacy of your identity information consistent with the requirements of the California Public Records Act, there may be portions of your communications that the city will be required to reveal to the public. (For example, the City may be required to provide access to the substance of your communication, with a deletion (or redaction) of your identity information).

The City receives identity information from customers through the City website through a variety of online forms (e.g. the Contact the City page, Vallejo News newsletter page, “Communicate with Us” e-mail sign ups, etc.) and transactional applications (e.g. Business License applications). The primary reason that the City collects and maintains citizen information is to serve you; send information or newsletters the City believes are of interest to residents, businesses and others associated with the community and to administer a customer relationship with the City.

The City values opinions and comments from citizens, so it may occasionally conduct online surveys.  Participation in these surveys is entirely optional. Typically, the information is aggregated and used to record citizen opinions on important community issues. Survey participants are anonymous unless otherwise stated in the survey.

The City tracks web server log files in order to create aggregate statistical reports, detect errors, and maintain security. These reports do not contain any personally identifiable information of users outside the City network.

The City of Vallejo provides users the opportunity to opt-out of receiving communications from the City and/or modify information previously provided.
