Project Description:
Upgrade, repair & improve 13 park & recreation sites, including benches, playground equipment, restrooms, water fountains, sidewalks, picnic tables, soccer goals, trees, and lights.

Implementing Entities:
Greater Vallejo Recreation District (GVRD)
Police Activities League (PAL)

Background:
There are two project proponents: the Greater Vallejo Recreation District (GVRD) and the Police Activities League (PAL).  With PB funds, GVRD will carry out improvements at 11 City-owned parks and 1 GVRD owned site.  PAL will build restrooms and a new snack bar at the soccer fields they lease from the Vallejo City Unified School District.

Project Updates:  GVRD began work in March 2014, and the work is expected to culminate in June 2015. Because PAL is currently in the planning stages for the project, the start and completion date is to be determined.
6/2014 Lumber and other materials are purchased for benches at Delta Meadows. Work to build the benches begins at the building and trade shop at Dan Foley Park.

Concrete and other materials are purchased for picnic tables at Grant Mahoney Park, Beverly Hills Park and Washington Park.  The walkways are framed and concrete is poured from walkways to the pads on which picnic tables will be installed to ensure ADA accessibility at Washington Park. Concrete pads are poured at Beverly Hills Park where picnic tables will be installed.

Three ADA accessible drinking fountains are purchased for Terrace Park and North Vallejo Park.
5/2014 Research begins on improvements to the bocce courts, including quotes from electricians for new lighting. Two ping pong tables are purchased for Grant Mahoney Park and vendor begins assembly.
3/26/2014 The agreement is executed between the City and GVRD.
2/13/2014
The GVRD Board approved the agreement for improvements at 12 parks, totaling $371,500.  The agreement also describes $160,000 in value and financial in-kind contributions from GVRD.
7/23/2013   The City Council adopts Resolution 13-114 N.C., approving the Project for implementation.
